| Simply defined, a digital Intermediate is a digital version of a fully color-graded version of a motion picture that was originally shot on film. The digital version is recorded back to a film master for print distribution and/or encoded for digital cinema distribution. However, the advent of digital cinema camera production (RAW or file based motion image acquisition) in tandem with digital cinema projection is eliminating the “I” or intermediate component of the DI process. Meanwhile, the continuing adoption of digital cinema cameras and projectors promises to reduce the cost of mastering and distribution. Color Mill offers cost effective digital mastering and DI services custom tailored for budget producers. |
